2019 Charter School Application
In 1996, the South Carolina Legislature passed the Charter Schools Act, thereby providing citizens the opportunity to apply to operate a public school. The focus of charter schools is to provide quality educational choices for parents and students. This application outlines the necessary components to propose, receive approval for, and implement a high quality charter school.
This application must be used to develop a complete application package for charter schools that plan to open for the 2020–21 school year or later. All charter school applications must comply fully with the South Carolina Charter Schools Act, S.C. Code Ann. § 59-40-10 et seq., and the Procedures and Standards for Review of Charter School Applications (2 S.C. Code Ann. Regs. 43-601 (2013)).
Applicants must submit a completed application packet by 5:00 p.m. February 1, 2019, for charter schools that plan to open for the 2020–21 school year. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered for a 2020–21 opening. Late, incomplete, or incorrectly formatted submissions will not be accepted.
